Ghana extends condolences to Thailand on the passing of Queen Sirikit, the Queen-Mother
The Government and people of Ghana have expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother of Thailand, who died on Friday, 24th October 2025.
In a message signed by H.E. Nii Amasah Namoale, Ghana’s Ambassador to Brazil, and entered in the Book of Condolence at the Royal Thai Embassy, Ghana extended heartfelt sympathies to the Royal Family and the people of Thailand on behalf of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, the Government, and the citizens of Ghana.
The statement described Queen Sirikit as a symbol of compassion and unity, widely admired for her lifelong dedication to humanitarian and social causes.
It noted her extraordinary contributions to rural development, education, and the preservation of Thai arts and crafts, emphasising how her advocacy for traditional textiles and handicrafts helped empower local communities and sustain livelihoods across Thailand.
“Her enduring legacy stands as a testament to her devotion to Thai culture and her humanitarian spirit,” the message read. “During this time of great loss, our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved Royal Family and the people of Thailand.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.”
Queen Sirikit, who served as consort to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, was deeply revered across Thailand for her grace, compassion, and national service.
Her passing marks the end of an era for the Thai monarchy and the global community of nations that admired her humanitarian legacy.
