Journalist Prince Ofori Atta files for NDC Ashanti Regional Deputy Secretary position
Prominent broadcast journalist and host of Adehye FM’s morning show Prince Ofori Atta has officially entered the race for the Ashanti Regional Deputy Secretary position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), pledging to leverage competence, strategic wisdom, and courage to strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Speaking to journalists shortly after filing his nomination forms at the regional party headquarters today, Mr Ofori Atta urged delegates to prioritise leadership capability over monetary influence, warning against transactional politics that could compromise the party's election readiness.
"I bring on board knowledge, competence, courage, and wisdom that will help push our party forward going into the 2028 elections," Mr Ofori Atta declared.
Addressing the pervasive role of financial influence in contemporary Ghanaian politics, the radio host acknowledged the necessity of funding in political organisation but cautioned delegates against making financial inducements the primary benchmark for selecting leaders.
"I have heard a lot of people say that the election is about money. Yes, I believe that politics cannot in any way flourish without money or flourish in poverty; money is part of it," he noted, adding, "But my message to all of them is that money should not be the basis upon which someone is going to vote for a candidate."
He warned that prioritising monetary gain over administrative efficiency would yield adverse consequences for the party after the internal contests.
"If you don't choose competence, knowledge, and courage over everything, after the elections it is going to be difficult for us, and I hope that the delegates will do the needful," he added.
Comparing the NDC's internal democracy to other political entities, Mr Ofori Atta rejected the widely held notion that political delegates are unpredictable or untrustworthy.
"Others hold the view in other political parties that they are afraid of the delegates in that party. I am not afraid of the NDC delegates; rather, I trust them because at all times they choose competent leaders for this great party," he affirmed.
