NPP delegates kneel before Bawumia to appeal for Amin Adam to contest Karaga seat again!
Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Karaga Constituency have dramatically appealed to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to intervene and persuade their Member of Parliament, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, to seek re-election, despite his stated intention not to contest again.
The appeal came after the delegates formally endorsed Dr Bawumia, during which they knelt before him as a sign of respect and urgency, asking him to prevail upon the MP to reconsider his decision.
According to the delegates, Dr Amin Adam had earlier indicated his desire to serve only two terms in Parliament.
However, they argued that the scale of development he has delivered over the past five years makes his continued leadership indispensable.
“We still want him as our MP because of the unprecedented development he has brought to Karaga,” one delegate said, stressing that the constituency could not afford to lose such leadership at this stage.
Dr Amin Adam made history as the first NPP Member of Parliament for Karaga since the constituency was created.
In the 2024 general elections, he retained the seat with a commanding margin of more than 6,000 votes, a performance party supporters say reflects the confidence of constituents in his leadership.
“He broke the jinx for the NPP in Karaga and strengthened the party’s base here,” a party elder noted.
The appeal by the delegates follows a similar call made last month by a group of traditional chiefs and opinion leaders in the constituency.
At the time, they publicly urged Dr Amin Adam not to abandon the people, citing his accessibility and development record. “Karaga still needs you,” one chief reportedly told him.
Party supporters now hope that Dr Bawumia’s intervention will convince the MP to remain in the race and continue what they describe as a transformative chapter in the constituency’s political history
