Oliver Barker-Vormawor’s lawyer denies bribery allegations post
Nana Ato Dadzie, the lawyer for political activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has dismissed allegations that his client made claims about bribery within Parliament’s Appointments Committee, describing the Social Media post in question as fake.
Speaking during an appearance before the committee, Nana Ato Dadzie clarified that Mr. Barker-Vormawor never authored the post and that it was not targeted at the committee.
"The statement is fake; this is not coming from Mr. Vormawor.
He never posted that statement.
The statement reads: ‘NDC members on the Appointments Committee take monies from Mahama’s ministerial nominees before approving them, and the Deputy Speaker must submit himself to ORAL.’
This is not from Mr. Vormawor,” he stated.
He further emphasized that the post was misinterpreted and was not intended to accuse the committee of wrongdoing but rather to highlight certain concerns.
"It is not directed at the Appointments Committee in any way.
It was completely not directed at them; it was only intended to expose certain matters," he explained.
Nana Ato Dadzie added that Mr. Barker-Vormawor’s intention was to bring to light reports that had come to his attention, positioning himself as a whistleblower rather than an accuser.
Despite maintaining his client’s innocence, the lawyer apologized on behalf of Mr. Barker-Vormawor for any misunderstanding caused by the post.
