Propaganda against Bryan Acheampong collapses in Ejura as facts triumph over fiction
What was intended to be a political ambush turned into a powerful demonstration of composure, leadership, and factual clarity when Dr. Bryan Acheampong, former Minister for Food and Agriculture and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, engaged party members and farmers in Ejura, Ashanti Region.
During the interactive session, Dr. Acheampong was publicly challenged by the Campaign Coordinator for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and a former Parliamentary Candidate in the area, over allegations related to the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) 2.0 fertiliser distribution programme under the immediate past NPP administration.
The accuser attempted to link the distribution of fertiliser inputs to political favouritism — a claim that sought to question Dr. Acheampong’s integrity and intent ahead of the NPP presidential primary.
However, Dr. Acheampong responded with calm authority and detailed evidence.
He clarified that the fertiliser relief initiative was a data-driven, national response to one of Ghana’s worst drought periods — not a campaign tool.
He stressed that his role as Minister for Food and Agriculture was grounded in service to the nation, not partisan gain.
“We built a verified database of affected farmers under PFJ 2.0.
Only those properly registered are eligible for inputs.
Distribution was done through District Chief Executives, Members of Parliament, and Parliamentary Candidates—not the Minister,” Dr. Acheampong explained.
He further reminded the gathering that the reforms under PFJ 2.0 abolished the old fertiliser subsidy model—criticised for corruption and inefficiency—and introduced a zero-interest Input Credit System that has already benefited over 200,000 farmers nationwide.
The Ministry’s process, he said, was fully transparent and accountable, ensuring that any implementation delays or challenges at the local level were the responsibility of district authorities, not the Ministry.
This is not the first time similar propaganda has faltered.
Earlier in Ahafo, a comparable accusation was made by Dr. Bawumia’s aide, Gideon Buako, which was dismissed after scrutiny revealed no wrongdoing.
The pattern, observers note, suggests a repeated attempt to politicise a national agricultural reform that has proven widely beneficial.
In Ejura, the audience quickly discerned the truth.
As Dr. Acheampong calmly laid out the facts, applause broke out — a clear indication that the crowd saw through the political spin.
With this latest episode, Dr. Bryan Acheampong has once again reinforced his public image as a principled leader focused on delivery, integrity, and foresight rather than rhetoric.
The Record Speaks for Itself:
Abolished the corrupt fertiliser subsidy model; introduced zero-interest Input Credit System.
Beneficiaries: Over 200,000 Ghanaian farmers.
Distribution: Conducted through a nationally verified, transparent database.
Accountability: District-level responsibility for last-mile distribution.
In the words of a local farmer who attended the event:
“We now understand who is working for Ghana and who is working for politics.
The truth has spoken for itself.”
