Gov't partners TikTok to boost Ghana’s creative economy
Ghana’s Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, has announced a landmark collaboration between the government and TikTok aimed at empowering Ghana’s creative community and strengthening the country’s growing digital economy.
The partnership, unveiled during a high-level engagement with leaders of new media held in Accra, marks the fulfilment of a key government promise to create an enabling environment for digital creators, innovators, and content entrepreneurs across Ghana.
Speaking at the event, the Minister described the engagement as “a very successful milestone” in efforts to position Ghana as a regional hub for digital creativity and innovation.
He emphasised that the initiative will equip local creators with modern tools, training, and opportunities to enhance their productivity and global competitiveness.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to using the agency of government to open doors for Ghanaian creatives.
By collaborating with leading global platforms like TikTok, we are empowering our youth to turn their creativity into viable livelihoods,” he said.
The Minister expressed appreciation to TikTok, the Ghana Digital Centre Limited, led by Dzifa Gunu, and the New Media Association of Ghana for their support in driving digital transformation and fostering a sustainable creative ecosystem.
Representatives from TikTok commended Ghana’s proactive approach to digital engagement and pledged continued collaboration to support local content creators through capacity-building initiatives and digital safety campaigns.
The partnership is expected to unlock new opportunities for digital entrepreneurship, content monetisation, and global visibility for Ghanaian talent, in line with the government’s Digital Transformation and Innovation Agenda
