President Mahama appoints Ing. Fianko as Acting NCA Director-General

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Rev. Ing. Edmund Yirenkyi Fianko as the Acting Director-General of the National Communications Authority (NCA), marking a historic first as the role is being filled from within the Authority’s ranks.
The NCA confirmed the appointment on January 23, 2025, via its official website.
Rev. Ing. Fianko, an accomplished electronic communications engineer, brings over 20 years of experience in radio frequency spectrum management, telecommunications and broadcasting regulation, policy development, and ICT industry research.
His journey with the NCA began in 2004 as a National Service Person, and over the years, he has steadily climbed the ranks within the institution.
In January 2024, Rev. Ing. Fianko was appointed Director of the Engineering Division, where he led the planning and management of the radio frequency spectrum for telecommunications and broadcasting services.
His expertise in this field has played a crucial role in advancing Ghana’s communications sector.
He succeeds Dr. Joe Anokye in the acting capacity, with his appointment reflecting the Authority’s commitment to nurturing and promoting internal talent into leadership roles.
