Andre Ayew visits Black Maidens camp ahead of Senegal World Cup Qualifier
Former Black Stars captain Andre Dede Ayew paid a surprise visit to the Black Maidens' training camp on Friday to encourage the team ahead of their decisive FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup qualifier against Senegal.
Ayew met with the players and technical team as they continued preparations for Saturday's return leg at the Accra Sports Stadium, where Ghana will be seeking victory to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
Addressing the players, the experienced forward urged them to approach the match with confidence and make the most of the opportunity.
"Opportunities like these do not come around often and I encourage you to play with courage, discipline and belief in your abilities," he said.
Ayew also urged the players to represent Ghana with pride and trust the work they have put in throughout the qualification campaign.
"You need to stay united, enjoy the moment and leave everything on the pitch. The entire country is behind you and believes you can qualify," he added.
Chairman of the Black Maidens Management Committee, Nana Sarfo Oduro, welcomed Ayew's visit, describing it as a timely boost for the team ahead of one of its most important matches.
"Having someone of Andre Ayew's stature come to support the girls means a lot. His words have lifted the team's spirits and given the players extra motivation as we prepare for this important game," he said.
The Black Maidens host Senegal on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium, with a place at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup at stake.
