Ghana to face Austria in World Cup preparatory friendly in Vienna
Ghana will play Austria in an international friendly as part of both nations’ preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The match will be hosted by Austria at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna, with both teams having already secured qualification for the global showpiece scheduled to take place in June across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, while Austria will compete in Group J against Argentina, Algeria, and Jordan.
The friendly encounter forms part of two high-profile matches lined up for Ghana during the March international window as the team fine-tunes preparations for the tournament.
The clash against Austria is scheduled for Friday, March 27, 2026, with kick-off set for 17:00 GMT.
Ghana will then face Germany in a second friendly on Monday, March 30, 2026.
The Black Stars will begin their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Panama on Wednesday, June 17, in Toronto, before taking on England in Boston on June 23 and Croatia on June 27, 2026.
