Joseph Aidoo: Ghanaian defender makes history at Celta Vigo
Ghanaian international Joseph Aidoo has made history at Celta Vigo.
Aidoo, 28, has been recognised as "the African player with the most games played for Celta".
This was noted by the European team on social media, September 24.
"We [blue heart emoji] you, Joseph!" Celta exclaimed.
Aidoo chalked up this feat during Celta's 3-1 triumph over Real Valladolid, marking his 136th appearance for the Spanish La Liga club, and placing him ahead of predecessors Ugandan Pione Sisto (135 games); South African Benedict Saul 'Benni' McCarthy (107); and Democratic Republic of Congo's Claude Makélélé (88).

Joseph Aidoo joined Celta Vigo in 2019, and has since proven to be a valuable player especially in the defence. Thus, his contract has been extended to 2026.
On September 17, Celta eulogised Aidoo, thus: "What a beast [Ghana and blue heart emojis]."
So far, the central defender has started 110 Celta Vigo matches out of his 136 appearances, scoring three goals. Thus, he is placed at 11th on the team’s all-time appearance list.
Joseph Aidoo has played with the Black Stars, also.
