Stonebwoy donates ¢100,000 to Black Challenge ahead of Amputee World Cup
Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has donated GH¢100,000 to the national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, to support the team ahead of the 2026 World Amputee Football Cup in Mexico.
The donation is expected to provide a financial boost to the team as they intensify preparations for the global competition scheduled for November 13 to 22 in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico.
The Black Challenge will represent Ghana at the tournament, which will bring together 24 national teams from across the world.
Ghana heads into the competition with an impressive record in amputee football, having won the African Amputee Football Championship in 2021 and 2024, in addition to claiming gold at the 2023 African Para Games in Accra.
The team has been drawn in Group D alongside Angola, Colombia and Iraq, setting up a challenging group-stage campaign.
Stonebwoy’s reported contribution comes at a crucial time as the team seeks adequate financial and logistical support to prepare effectively and compete for honours on the world stage.
The donation also highlights the important role individuals and corporate organisations can play in supporting para-sports and promoting inclusive sporting development in Ghana.
The Black Challenge will be hoping to translate their continental success into a strong performance in Mexico as they pursue the ultimate prize in amputee football.
