Wilmar Africa etched their name into the history books after defeating Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club 1-0 to win the University of Ghana Corporate Football League title in their debut season.

The newcomers produced a disciplined and composed display to overcome one of the competition's most experienced sides in a tense final match.

The opening half was a closely contested affair, with both teams creating opportunities but lacking the finishing touch. Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club saw plenty of the ball and knocked it around confidently, yet struggled to convert possession into clear-cut chances. Wilmar, meanwhile, remained organised and patient, waiting for the right moment to strike.

After a goalless first half, Wilmar emerged from the break with greater purpose and gradually began to take control of proceedings. Their attacking intent increased as they pinned Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club deeper into their own half.

The breakthrough eventually arrived midway through the second half. After sustained pressure, Wilmar’s number 10 player Rolland Tetteh scored a goal to put wilmar in the lead. It was a moment that came seemingly out of nowhere but reflected their growing dominance after the interval.

With the clock winding down, Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club threw everything forward in search of an equalizer. The runners-up pushed relentlessly during the closing stages, but Wilmar's defence stood firm, repelling wave after wave of attacks to protect their slender advantage.

When the final whistle sounded, jubilant scenes erupted as Wilmar secured their first-ever University of Ghana Corporate Football  League title, completing a remarkable debut campaign in style.

Earlier in the day, National Petroleum Authority (NPA) claimed the bronze medal after defeating Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) 2-1 in the third-place playoff. NPA took an early lead with a goal from Kingsley Nyame before GCAA equalised from the penalty spot.

However, a stunning strike from outside the box by the NPA’s captain Tijani Shaibu restored their advantage and ultimately secured victory. NPA also saw a penalty saved after it was taken before the referee's signal, but they held on to finish third, improving on last season's fourth-place finish.
