Charles III has broken his silence on renewed scrutiny surrounding Prince Andrew, Duke of York, formally Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, as questions emerge over alleged grave sexual misconduct connected to his past association with convicted offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In a statement released Thursday through Royal Communications, the King said he had received the news with “the deepest concern,” while making clear that the matter must be handled strictly through lawful and independent processes.

“I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office,” the monarch said.

He emphasised that what follows must be “the full, fair and proper process” conducted by the appropriate authorities, pledging the Royal Family’s complete cooperation.

“In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation,” the statement continued.

King Charles underlined the importance of accountability and due process, stating firmly: “Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.”

He declined to elaborate further while investigations are ongoing, noting that it would be inappropriate to comment as authorities carry out their work. Instead, he affirmed that the Royal Family would remain focused on public service.

“As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all,” he concluded, signing the message “Charles R.”

The brief address signals the Palace’s intention to allow legal mechanisms to proceed without interference while maintaining its constitutional commitment to transparency, cooperation, and the rule of law.
