US and Iran announce historic deal to end military conflict
The United States and Iran, mediated by Pakistan, have reached a landmark agreement to permanently end the recent military conflict between the two nations.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced the completion of the deal via social media, stating that the United States would immediately lift its naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz to restore global oil flow.
"The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!" Trump wrote, adding, "Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!"
Main Points of the Agreement
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed the mediation's success, noting that both nations have committed to an immediate and permanent termination of military operations across all active fronts, including Lebanon.
An official signing ceremony for the framework is scheduled to take place this coming Friday in Switzerland.
The 14-point memorandum has been widely cited by Iranian state media.
Reacting to the development, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, Kazem Gharibabadi, stated that the agreement was a reflection of diplomatic negotiations as well as Iran's military position, honouring those who died during the confrontation.
The announcement follows days of escalating tension and reciprocal airstrikes between U.S. and Iranian forces across the Middle East.
While details of the full 14-point framework continue to emerge, the immediate lifting of the naval blockade is expected to ease global energy market anxieties.
