All my roles matter, but motherhood comes first” – Ceccy Twum
Ghanaian gospel musician Ceccy Twum has opened up about balancing her multiple responsibilities as a mother, wife, and musician, revealing that despite her busy schedule, motherhood remains her greatest priority.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Taller Dee on Accra-based No1 FM’s “No1 Gospel Showbiz,” Ceccy Twum said everything she has achieved is solely through God’s grace.
According to her, handling her roles became easier because her children had already grown by the time her music and ministry engagements intensified.
“It is by the grace of God. When God gives you work, He also gives you strength for it. I thank God my kids were not toddlers when I became very busy—they could take care of themselves.”
Ceccy Twum also explained that the pastoral ministry in general places heavy demands on families, which is why people often misunderstand the lives of pastors’ children.
“People say pastors’ kids are spoiled, but it’s not true. The pastoral work demands so much of their parents’ time that the children are often left on their own.”
She added that frequent pastoral transfers also affect family routines and place more responsibilities on mothers.
“Pastors move from one place to another, and it leaves the children mostly with the mother. It becomes difficult to give them full attention, and that’s how some kids end up going astray.”
When the host asked her which of her roles she prioritises most—mother, wife, or musician—Ceccy Twum said all three are important, but motherhood stands out.
