IGP signs book of condolence in honour of music legend Daddy Lumba

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohono, has paid tribute to Ghanaian music icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, by signing the book of condolence in his honour.
The solemn ceremony took place at the residence of the late highlife legend, where the IGP was received by family members and close associates of the celebrated musician. Mr Yohono expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and described Daddy Lumba as a national treasure whose music touched generations of Ghanaians.
"Daddy Lumba was more than just an artiste — he was a voice of love, hope, and inspiration to millions. His passing is a great loss to Ghana, and we share in the sorrow of the family and the nation," the IGP stated.
Daddy Lumba, known for timeless hits such as Aben Wo Ha, Theresa, and Yentie Obiaa, passed away recently, sending shockwaves across the country and beyond.
Tributes have since poured in from political leaders, musicians, fans, and cultural institutions, all celebrating his unmatched contribution to Ghanaian music and culture.
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has already hinted at plans for a state-assisted funeral, acknowledging Daddy Lumba’s significant role in shaping the highlife genre and elevating Ghana’s music industry on the international stage.
The IGP’s visit forms part of a series of tributes by prominent national figures, reflecting the deep respect Daddy Lumba commanded across various sectors of society.
Mr Yohono noted that the Ghana Police Service, like many institutions, has been inspired by the music of Daddy Lumba, which often echoes the everyday struggles and aspirations of the Ghanaian people.
The book of condolence remains open to the public and dignitaries, as the nation prepares to bid farewell to a musical legend whose legacy will endure for generations.
