Rapper Ko-Jo Cue has explained why he loves to collaborate with singer-songwriter Ayisi.

The pair make fantastic Hiplife and Highlife music proven by their Tsioo Benke Mi (2016), Wo Nsa Be Ka (2019), and now Onipa Hia Mmoa (2025). 

Speaking to Prince Benjamin (PB) on Accra 100.5 FM, Cue fondly said Ayisi “is a brother, and I love lyricism, and anyone who writes deep and moving lyrics excites me”.

He said he had observed “Ayisi loves Highlife, just like me.

“And so anytime I come across such a vibe, I don’t hesitate to give it to him, being confident that he will take it to a place that I’d absolutely love.”

He recalled when Ayisi, formerly called AI, freshly sent in his performance for Tsioo Benke Mi.

“I was listening and joyfully jumping about in my hall, and saying to myself, ‘This man can sing!’” he said, jokingly emphasising Ayisi is “sing-a-pore”. 

He did not hide his excitement over Ayisi’s Can I Live (Live) receiving two Telecom Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) trophies at the 2025 edition; Record of the Year and Sound Engineer of the Year.

This year, Ayisi recorded his debut 

“I was overjoyed,” Ko-Jo Cue said. “He won together with a big brother of mine, Peeweezel.”

“Ayisi has worked hard and he had to take an award home.”

Ayisi came to mainstream attention via Grind (2016). However, many had earlier discovered and loved him for his arresting vocal and songwriting gifts demonstrated on cuts like Anger Management (2014), for instance. 

This year, Ayisi gained more attention for his Can I Live (Live) from his Gigs EP. The original piece came from his 2022 tape, Unbroken. He did a live performance of the song at the TGMAs, Ghana's topmost entertainment awards show.

Onipa Hia Mmoa (People Need Help) featuring Ayisi is the first single Ko-Jo Cue released for his anticipated second solo album, out in November.
