The principal streets of Gomoa Assin came alive on Friday, August 29, 2025, with an outpouring of tradition, royalty, and jubilation as ten chiefs were lifted high in royal palanquins during the grand celebration of the Ahorbaa Kɛse Festival.
The festival, held annually to honour the legendary Fante hero, Egya Ahor, drew large crowds of celebrants who lined the streets with cheers of triumph.
Among the newly inducted chiefs, the spotlight shone brightest on Nana Kwesi Essel-Okyeahene I, the enterprising founder and CEO of a conglomerate of thriving institutions, including Young Executive School, Onua Francis International School, Executive Community Church, and Executive Guest Houses.
With a rich background in public service, entrepreneurship, and education, Nana Essel-Okyeahene I has earned multiple awards and widespread recognition for his unmatched leadership and development initiatives.
At the colourful ceremony, he was installed as the Nyimdzee Kɛsehene (Great Chief of Knowledge) of the entire Assin Traditional Area, overseeing more than 165 communities, while also serving as the Chief Property Overseer (Gyaasehene) of Gomoa Wassa.
The moment was marked by cultural splendour — from the rhythmic sounds of traditional drumming and dancing to the vibrant display of Fante regalia — underscoring the enduring significance of the Ahorbaa Kɛse festival in uniting communities through heritage and honour.
His installation has been widely celebrated, with many hailing it as a recognition of his supreme personal achievements, entrepreneurial spirit, and lifelong dedication to education and community development.
