Aba Dope: “Having a child out of wedlock isn’t a crime — I just wanted a baby, not a relationship”
Ghanaian social media personality Aba Dope has opened up about her personal decision to have a child outside marriage, a revelation that has sparked widespread debate online.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra-based Okay FM, she disclosed that her choice was deliberate and based on her own life goals rather than societal pressure.
“Having a child out of wedlock isn’t a crime,” she said boldly.
“I told him clearly that I just need a child and not a committed relationship.”
Aba Dope explained that she was honest with her baby’s father from the start, ensuring he understood her intentions.
She noted that many women are judged harshly for similar decisions, even though motherhood is a personal journey that differs from woman to woman.
Her remarks have triggered mixed reactions on social media, with some commending her openness and independence, while others raise concerns about the societal implications.
Despite the conversations, Aba Dope insists she is confident in her choice and proud to embrace motherhood on her own terms.
