Assin North DCE vows to complete abandoned CHPS compound at Assin Kyiano

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Assin North in the Central Region Mr. Sylvester Amakye Nyarkoh, has pledged to complete and operationalise the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Assin Kyiano, which has been left abandoned for over nine years.
The project, which began under a previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, has suffered years of neglect, leaving the structure in a deteriorated state.
During his inspection tour of development projects in the district, Mr. Amakye Nyarkoh visited the facility and expressed dismay at its current condition.
The compound, according to reports, has become overgrown with weeds, with broken windows, damaged doors, and visible structural defects.
The floor screeding was also found to be sinking, raising concerns of poor work by the original contractor.
Describing the situation as unacceptable, the DCE stressed the urgent need to provide quality healthcare for residents of Assin Kyiano, who currently travel long distances to access basic medical services.
“The lives of our people matter, and it is unacceptable that such an important health facility has been abandoned for this long,” Hon. Amakye Nyarkoh said.
He further emphasised that government projects are funded with taxpayers’ money and should not be left incomplete due to political transitions.
The DCE assured the community that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government will prioritise the facility’s completion and ensure it serves the people as originally intended.
Hon. Amakye also warned contractors against delivering substandard work, cautioning that such negligence will not be tolerated under his administration.
He was accompanied on the inspection tour by the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Newman, and other Assembly officials.
