Emergency GWCL shutdown at Kpeve Headworks to disrupt water supply in Ho and surrounding areas
Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) in the Volta Region has announced an emergency shutdown at the Kpeve Headworks scheduled for Thursday, January 22, 2026, beginning at 5 AM.
According to a statement issued by the regional management of the company, the shutdown has become necessary to allow engineers to undertake urgent repair works on a serious leakage detected on the raw water transmission line.
The exercise will result in a temporary disruption of water supply to Ho township, Kpeve, Peki, and other surrounding communities.
GWCL assured customers that production will resume immediately after the repair works are completed.
In the meantime, residents in the affected areas have been advised to store adequate water ahead of the shutdown to minimise inconvenience.
Management of Ghana Water Compant Limited, Volta Region, has apologised to customers for the inconvenience the emergency works may cause and has appealed for patience and understanding from the general public.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring reliable and safe water supply across the region.
