The Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) is taking steps to revamp the country's railway system.

Recently, the GRDA condemned two incidents of vandalism and violence targeting railway staff and infrastructure.

In one incident, a train was attacked with stones near Tema, and in another, the General Manager of Passenger Service Operations was assaulted at Ashaiman.

The GRDA has begun investigations into these incidents and is working with law enforcement to bring perpetrators to justice. The Authority is also taking measures to protect its operations and personnel, including evicting unauthorised occupants and structures along railway lines.

In related news, the GRDA has distanced itself from an ongoing strike by workers of the Ghana Railway Company Limited (GRCL), stating that the industrial action is unrelated to the GRDA and does not affect its operations.

The GRDA is focused on advancing key projects and delivering efficient railway infrastructure for national development.

The Authority has also inaugurated a new board, tasked with revitalising the country's ailing railway sector.
