Ghana High Commission in South Africa engages GTA to boost tourism and business events cooperation
The Ghana High Commission in South Africa has held strategic discussions with the Ghana Tourism Authority aimed at strengthening tourism cooperation and expanding Ghana’s presence in Africa’s growing business events market.
The engagement took place when Benjamin Quashie, Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, met with Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, following his participation in Meetings Africa 2026.
The discussions focused on leveraging Ghana’s participation in the continental trade show to promote the country as a competitive destination for conferences, exhibitions and other international business events.
Mr. Aggrey, who led Ghana’s delegation to the event with support from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and the Ghana Tourism Authority, later paid a courtesy call on the High Commission in Pretoria.
Officials said the engagement formed part of broader efforts to deepen collaboration between Ghana’s diplomatic missions and tourism institutions in promoting the country’s tourism and meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) sector across the African continent.
