Minister for the Interior, and Member of Parliament for Asawaase Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed, has urged his colleague MPs to work closely with security agencies and support the equitable deployment of security personnel across the country, particularly in rural and underserved communities.

Speaking on the floor of the House, the MP cautioned against political interference in the transfer of security officers, noting that pressure from MPs often undermines national security efforts.

He observed that it has become common for security personnel posted to remote areas to seek transfers to major cities such as Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, and Sunyani, sometimes with the backing of MPs.

According to him, such practices leave vulnerable communities without adequate security presence.

The sector minister, therefore, appealed to MPs to encourage their constituents to remain at their duty posts when deployed, stressing that limited security resources must be fairly distributed across all parts of the country.

He further called on MPs, especially those from disadvantaged areas, to actively support community policing initiatives as a means of strengthening local security.

The MP assured the House that the Police Headquarters has issued a clear directive on community policing and pledged that implementation support would be rolled out swiftly to assist affected communities.
