A/R: 2 robbers arrested, IGP deploys special anti-robbery team to pursue others on the run
Ghana Police Service (GPS) has announced that the Ahafo Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects who are part of a robbery syndicate that simultaneously attacked a gold buying company, a cocoa buying company, seized two police rifles, and also made an unsuccessful attempt to break into the vault of the Asutifi Rural Bank, all located within the same vicinity at Nkasiem.
The incidents took place on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
The robbers, armed with pump action guns, also shot and wounded one person in the thigh, who was later treated and discharged at St Elizabeth Hospital, Hwidiem, Ahafo Region.
Through a targeted intelligence-led operation, two of the suspects have been arrested, police announced on Wednesday.
They added that a manhunt had been initiated to get the remaining suspects arrested, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, having deployed a special anti-robbery team from the National Police Headquarters, Accra, to assist the regional command.
The regional command has assured the public that all members of the criminal syndicate would be identified and arrested to face the full rigours of the law.
