Gifty Oware- Mensah granted GHS10 million bail, barred from travelling abroad

The former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Gifty Oware Mensah, has been granted GHS10 million bail with three sureties by an Accra High Court.
As part of the bail conditions, the court has also barred her from leaving the country while investigations into alleged financial improprieties continue.
The decision follows her appearance in court over suspected involvement in activities linked to financial misconduct during her tenure at the National Service Authority.
Though details of the specific charges are yet to be made public, prosecutors told the court that investigations are ongoing and requested that the accused be made available when required.
Mrs. Oware Mensah’s lawyers argued for bail, insisting she was not a flight risk and had cooperated fully with investigators.
The court granted the request but imposed stringent conditions, including the surrender of her travel documents to authorities.
The case has attracted public attention due to Oware Mensah’s prominence in public service and youth development initiatives.
She is expected to reappear in court as the Attorney-General’s Department continues its investigations into the matter.
