The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has intensified its investigations into the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) gold trade programme, with searches conducted at multiple locations linked to businessman Nana Yaw Duodu, popularly known as Dr. Sledge.

According to an official statement, the searches were carried out on Tuesday at Dr. Sledge’s Trassaco residence and the East Legon offices of Goldridge Company Limited, under warrants issued by the High Court in Accra.

The operation forms part of an ongoing probe into alleged corruption and corruption-related offences connected to the MIIF gold trade programme, which is suspected to have caused a loss of US$94 million to the State.

During the exercise, the OSP’s Asset Recovery and Management Team seized several items, including luxury vehicles, jewellery, weapons, and documents related to landed properties believed to be connected to the investigation.

The OSP has not yet released further details, but sources indicate that the seized materials will undergo forensic and financial analysis to aid the ongoing case.

The investigation marks one of the most high-profile corruption probes in recent months, underscoring the OSP’s commitment to recovering state assets and ensuring accountability in the management of public resources.
