Two journalists expose pump tempering at Atimpoku GOIL

Two prominent Accra-based journalists have uncovered pump tampering at the Atimpoku Goil filling station in the Eastern Region, exposing the dishonest practices of the station's attendants.
This troubling issue has become increasingly common, particularly in busy areas of Ghana, where customers often rush and fail to verify the correct quantity of fuel they receive.
Kwame Afrifa Mensah and Kwame Appiah Kubi acted on a tip-off and investigated the Oil Marketing Company's (OMC) activities.
They purchased ten litres of fuel to demonstrate their findings and used the National Petroleum Authority's (NPA) ten-litre can to challenge the quantity supplied.
When the test was put through the quantity supplied fell short of expectations
During the visit, the team discovered that the stations dispensed less fuel than the quantity consumers paid for because many customers failed to demand receipts.
In this case, when you buy GH1OOO, they are giving you GHS 500 worth of fuel.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, Mr Kwame Afrifa Mensah revealed that the test confirmed a discrepancy in the fuel provided.
He noted that many customers, believing they are receiving a full ten litres after spending GHS 1000, often find their fuel gauge warning light activating shortly after they drive away.
Mr Afrifa Mensah emphasized that this deceptive practice has become the norm for some OMCs in the country.
The two journalists are from Angel and Kesben FM.
