Two suspected armed robbers lynched after attack on gold miners in Ashanti Region

Two suspected armed robbers were lynched by residents of Manso Watreso in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region after an attempted robbery targeting gold miners.
The incident occurred on Monday, January 13, 2025.
The armed men reportedly blocked a road in the area to ambush miners, managing to steal 30 pounds of gold, GHS11,000, and a car key.
However, their plan was partially thwarted when residents, acting on intelligence, intervened.
Kofi Mensah, the Assembly Member for the area, told Kumasi FM's Elisha Adarkwah that the youth mobilized quickly and apprehended two of the four suspects.
The apprehended robbers were lynched on the spot.
The other two suspects managed to escape with the stolen items.
Police from Manso Edubia arrived at the scene to recover the bodies and assist the victims.
Investigations have since been launched to apprehend the fleeing suspects and gather further details about the incident.
