Education Minister secures landmark partnership with Japanese gov't

Ghana’s Ministry of Education has entered into a landmark agreement with Japan’s Life is Tech organisation and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to enhance the country’s education system across multiple levels.
The partnership, formalised by Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu, aims to reach over 1.35 million Ghanaian students, primarily at the Senior High School level.
The agreement will see the roll-out of digital coding programmes to equip students with essential 21st-century skills such as programming, logical reasoning and problem-solving.
It also ensures the provision of vital digital resources to promote inclusivity and bridge educational gaps.
Beyond digital literacy, the initiative encompasses teacher training, institutional capacity building, and the development of green skills in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The programme also includes student exchange schemes and joint research initiatives at the tertiary level.
Minister Iddrisu described the collaboration as “strategic, timely, and transformative,” expressing gratitude to the Japanese Government for their steadfast support.
He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to implementing reforms aligned with the Education Strategic Plan (ESP 2018–2030) and the Sustainable Development Goals.
