President Mahama explores education and biotechnology partnerships in Singapore

President John Dramani Mahama has paid working visits to two of Singapore’s leading institutions — the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and Biopolis — as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration in higher education and biotechnology.
At SIT, President Mahama was introduced to the university’s applied learning model, which integrates classroom study with hands-on industry experience.
As Singapore’s first university of applied learning, SIT offers industry-focused degree programmes aimed at producing work- and future-ready graduates.
Its pedagogy combines work and study through strong partnerships with industry, while its applied research supports business innovation and growth.
The President was also briefed on plans for SIT’s upcoming centralised campus at the Punggol Digital District, designed to deepen collaboration between academia, industry, and the wider community.
President Mahama later toured Biopolis, Singapore’s premier research hub for biomedical science, located at one-north. Developed by JTC, Biopolis has become a cornerstone of the country’s biomedical sector, driving economic growth through cutting-edge life sciences research and public–private partnerships.
The President’s engagements in Singapore form part of his broader vision to explore successful global models of integrating education, research, and industry, with the aim of adapting such strategies to boost innovation, skills development, and biotechnology advancement in Ghana.
