V/R: Over 209,000 candidates set to sit 2025 BECE across 115 centres

The 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Volta Region is scheduled to commence this week, with a total of 209,888 candidates from both public and private schools expected to participate.
According to the Ghana Education Service (GES), the examination will be conducted across 115 designated centres throughout the region.
The candidates drawn from 1,202 schools, comprising 902 public and 300 private institutions will take part in the week-long national assessment.
The BECE covers 11 subjects, but each candidate is expected to write an average of 9, including seven core subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Science, Ghanaian Language, Social Studies, Religious and Moral Education, and Creative Arts and Design and Career Technology.
Each day of the examination will see two papers administered, one in the morning at 9 a.m. and another in the afternoon at 1 p.m., as part of the structured schedule to ensure smooth execution across all centres.
Speaking to Class News, the Volta Regional Public Relations Officer of the GES, Forgive Agoha, confirmed the region’s preparedness for the examination.
He emphasised that all logistical and administrative arrangements had been finalised to ensure a successful and incident-free exercise.
Mr Agoha also used the opportunity to advise candidates to strictly adhere to all rules and regulations governing the conduct of the exams, urging them to uphold discipline and integrity throughout the period.
