Cashew Watch Ghana inaugurates Bono Regional Cashew Farmers Cooperative

Cashew Watch Ghana, a civil society organisation based in Sunyani, has inaugurated the Bono Regional Cashew Farmers Cooperative at Nsawkaw in the Tain District.
The initiative aims to unite cashew farmers across the region under one umbrella to address the major challenges confronting the cashew industry and to advocate collectively for lasting solutions.
Cashew farmers in the region continue to face several difficulties, including poor road networks, limited access to credit, and low farm-gate prices, which affect production and income levels.
Speaking at the inauguration, Madam Francisca Adorkor-Khein, the Bono Regional Director of Cooperatives, commended the formation of the cooperative, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening the cashew sector.
She expressed optimism that a unified front would help farmers engage government and stakeholders more effectively.
Madam Adorkor-Khein pledged her office’s support to ensure that the government pays attention to the concerns of cashew farmers and implements measures to improve the entire cashew value chain.
On his part, Mr. Dwobeng Nyantekyi, Value Chain Officer at the Tree Crop Development Authority (TCDA), advised the cooperative’s leadership to prioritise service over personal interest.
He urged them to work diligently, maintain transparency, and promote unity to attract government and private sector support.
Mr. Munufie Daniel, Chairman of the Bono and Ahafo Cashew Farmers Cooperative, speaking on behalf of the executives, assured members of their commitment to work effectively to advance the interests of all cashew farmers.
He also encouraged farmers who are not yet members to join the cooperative to build a stronger and more influential Association.
