The Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, on Sunday joined the Ghana Armed Forces at the Church of Pentecost, Burma Camp Worship Centre, for a solemn and symbolic induction service for members of the new Military High Command.

The ceremony marked the official induction into office of the Chief of the Defence Staff, the Service Commanders, and the Chief of Staff.

The event was described as prayerful, unifying, and significant, as it brought together military leaders, government officials, and families in a show of solidarity and support for Ghana’s security leadership.

In his remarks, Dr. Omane Boamah expressed confidence in the competence, patriotism, and integrity of the newly appointed military leaders.

He noted that their leadership comes at a critical time when the world faces volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity, and charged them to build on the gains made and reposition the military to effectively respond to emerging challenges.

The inducted officers include:

Lieutenant General William Agyapong, Chief of the Defence Staff

Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, Chief of the Army Staff

Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, Chief of the Naval Staff

Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frimpong, Chief of the Air Staff

Air Vice Marshal Joshua Lartei Mensah-Larkai, Chief of Staff

Dr. Boamah congratulated the officers, describing their appointments and promotions as well-deserved, and called their elevation not only a personal achievement but also a call to greater national service.

The Head of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, delivered a powerful and inspiring sermon during the service, offering spiritual guidance and encouragement to the inductees.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Minister for the Interior and National Security, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak; Deputy Defence Minister, Mr. Brogya Gyamfi; Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and Interior, Mr. James Agalga; and the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno.

Also in attendance were Nancy Ampofo, Esq., a member of the Armed Forces Council; Brigadier General Mantey and Brigadier General Annan, heads of the Narcotics Control Commission and the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, respectively; as well as the families of the inducted officers.
