Foreign Affairs Ministry holds two-day management retreat
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a two-day Management Retreat from 10th to 11th January 2026 to take stock of the performance of the Ministry in the year 2025 and to make projections and set targets for them for the current year.
In his remarks, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) congratulated the management and staff of the Ministry for the feat achieved in the past year and expressed confidence for an increase in productivity in the year 2026.
Highlighting the foreign policy of Ghana in the context of the current international system, he reiterated Ghana’s non-aligned position in the conduct of its international relations and urged the staff of the Ministry to continue to pursue the interests of Ghana through its foreign policy objectives.
He emphasised that diplomacy must be impactful for the citizens to realise the dividends.
The Chief Director, Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu, expressed optimism for the year 2026 and called for renewed commitment, clarity of purpose and sustained excellence in the conduct of Ghana’s diplomacy.
She expressed appreciation to the Minister and his Deputy for their exemplary leadership and strong commitment to the mandate of the Ministry as well as staff welfare. She recalled several interventions made in 2025 to improve the welfare of the staff of the Ministry.
The interactive forum provided the platform for an in-depth consideration of the agenda of the Ministry for the year 2026 and proffer strategies for achieving them within the stipulated time frame.
At the end of the second day, the Deputy Minister, James Gyakye Quayson (MP) assured of the leadership’s commitment to coherence to facilitate accountability and transparency and also urged the staff to translate the vision of the Ministry to tangible results for the benefit of the citizenry.
The two-day retreat concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and shared resolve to enhance collaboration to deliver the Ministry’s mandate in 2026.
