GIPC Secures 2,000 jobs for youth through YEA–Weave Ghana partnership
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Mr. Simon Madjie, has spearheaded a rapid intervention that will see 2,000 young Ghanaians recruited and trained under a new collaboration between the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and Weave Ghana Limited.
The initiative emerged during an investor outreach programme led by Mr. Madjie, where Weave Ghana’s Human Resource team raised urgent concerns over acute staffing shortages.
In response, the GIPC’s Aftercare and Investor Grievance Division swiftly convened high-level consultations, culminating in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between YEA and the company.
The agreement aligns with the government’s national job creation agenda and industrialisation policy, designed to link private sector investment with employment opportunities for Ghana’s expanding youth population.
It will not only address immediate vacancies but also provide recruits with targeted, industry-specific training to enhance their long-term employability and strengthen the country’s skilled labour base.
Industry observers say the swift resolution of Weave Ghana’s staffing challenge demonstrates Ghana’s commitment to investor retention through responsive aftercare services, reinforcing the country’s appeal as a preferred business hub in the sub-region.
Mr. Madjie stressed that the development reflects GIPC’s dedication to supporting investors beyond the initial establishment phase as part of ongoing reforms to improve the investment climate.
He urged investors to engage with the Aftercare team, led by Mr. Charles Opoku Mensah, for post-establishment assistance.
