President Mahama strengthens national security framework with key appointments

President John Dramani Mahama has announced significant appointments aimed at bolstering Ghana’s national security architecture, demonstrating his administration's commitment to safeguarding citizens and enhancing the country’s security capabilities.
Former Chief of Staff, Prosper Douglas Bani, has been appointed as the National Security Advisor to the President, leveraging his extensive experience, including his tenure as Minister for the Interior, to guide the nation’s security policies.
Additionally, DCOP Abdul-Osman Razak has been named the National Security Coordinator, tasked with ensuring the seamless integration and coordination of Ghana’s national security initiatives.
Retired COP Nathan Kofi Boakye has been appointed as the Director of Operations at the Presidency, where he will oversee the operational aspects of the country's security measures to ensure their effectiveness.
Meanwhile, Charles Kipo takes up the role of Director-General of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), focusing on intelligence operations and strengthening the safety and security of the nation.
Announcing the appointments, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President, emphasized the administration's commitment to enhancing national security.
“These appointments reflect the President’s determination to assemble a team of seasoned professionals with the expertise required to address Ghana’s evolving security challenges and to ensure the safety of every citizen,” Kwakye Ofosu stated.
