The Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) has commenced a nationwide inspection and monitoring exercise aimed at strengthening regulatory compliance within the allied health sector.

The exercise officially began today, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, in Accra, and forms part of the Council’s statutory mandate to protect public health and uphold professional standards among allied health practitioners and facilities across the country.

According to the Council, the inspection involves on-site verification of licensing status, renewal of practitioner Personal Identification Numbers (PINs), facility registration, and adherence to approved operational standards.

Inspection teams will also assess compliance with approved scopes of practice, professional qualifications, and the appropriate deployment of allied health professionals.

Speaking during the exercise, Registrar of the Council, Dr Shiraz Issahaku, says the initiative is expected to improve regulatory accountability, address instances of non-compliance, and offer technical guidance to facilities and practitioners where necessary.

According to him, facilities found operating without the required authorisation will be directed to regularise their status, while those in serious breach of regulatory requirements may face sanctions in accordance with the Health Professions Bodies Act, 2013 (Act 857).

The Council emphasised that the inspection and monitoring exercise will continue throughout the year and cover all regions of the country.

AHPC further noted that the ongoing exercise is part of a broader effort to enhance service quality, safeguard public safety, and strengthen the integrity of allied health practice nationwide.

Practitioners and facility owners have been urged to cooperate fully with inspection teams and ensure that all regulatory obligations are up to date.
