UNICEF applauds Ghana for fulfilling its 2025 vaccine co-financing to curb children's vaccine shortage

UNICEF Ghana has commended the Government of Ghana for successfully meeting its 2025 vaccine co-financing obligation, ensuring uninterrupted immunisation services for children across the country.
The government disbursed a total of USD 24.5 million on time, fulfilling its full financial commitment toward the procurement of essential vaccines.
This move, according to UNICEF, is critical to preventing vaccine shortages and sustaining the gains made in the country’s national immunisation programmes.
In a statement, UNICEF lauded the government’s action as a clear demonstration of its dedication to child health and the broader goal of achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
"This timely payment is a strong demonstration of the Government’s continued commitment to protecting children’s health and strengthening Ghana’s immunisation system," UNICEF stated.
The funding will support the continued delivery of life-saving vaccines, protecting children from preventable diseases and helping to maintain public confidence in the health system.
Health experts and development partners have also praised the government’s commitment, noting that consistent investment in immunisation is key to building a resilient and inclusive healthcare system.
