BE/R: Nana Pimampim Kabrese wins Council of State elections

Paramount Chief of Yeji traditional area, Nana Pimampim Yaw Kagbrese V has been elected as Council of State representative for the Bono East region.
The 73-year-old President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs polled 11 out of a total of 22 votes cast, to win the election contested by total of 11 candidates.
Voters came from 11 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies across the region to take part in the exercise at the Bonokyempim hall in Techiman, amid heavy security presence.
Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour, a 65-year-old engineer; and a 40-year-old pastor, Micheal Kwasi Amponsah, garnered 7 and 4 votes respectively.
Meanwhile, seven other candidates including former Techiman South MP Simmons Addai, and People’s National Convention (PNC) Regional Chairman George Bauh Inusah recorded zero votes in the contest.
Interacting with the media after being declared winner, Pimampim Yaw Kagbrese V promised to work hand-in-hand with all assembly members across the region to help address pertinent challenges like chieftaincy disputes and poor road network in region.
