Bawumia’s vision, competence and persona not in doubt – Egyapa Mercer
Former Tourism Minister, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has dismissed suggestions that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s suitability to lead the New Patriotic Party is questionable, insisting that his vision, competence and personal integrity are beyond dispute.
Appearing on Metro TV on Thursday, January 22, Mr Mercer said Dr Bawumia has consistently demonstrated clarity of purpose and intellectual depth both in opposition and in government.
“There is no doubt about Dr Bawumia’s vision, his competence or his persona. These are not things up for debate. He has proven himself over time,” Mr Mercer said.
He explained that as former Vice President and the NPP’s 2024 presidential candidate, Dr Bawumia has articulated forward-looking ideas on digitalisation, economic reform and governance that resonate with both party members and the wider electorate.
According to Mr Mercer, these qualities are precisely why a broad coalition of former party executives and parliamentary candidates has publicly endorsed Dr Bawumia’s leadership bid ahead of the 2028 elections.
