Dec. 7 polls: Apea-Danquah sues EC following disqualification from Presidential race
Samuel Apea-Danquah, also known as Yellow Ghana, has filed a lawsuit against the Electoral Commission (EC) after being disqualified from the upcoming presidential elections.
Mr. Apea-Danquah was among 11 candidates disqualified by the EC over alleged irregularities in their nomination forms.
In a motion submitted on Thursday, 10 October Mr. Apea-Danquah seeks a court order to reverse the EC’s decision and an order of mandamus to compel the commission to reinstate him as a valid candidate for the 2024 general elections.
His legal action coincides with similar challenges mounted against the EC by other candidates.
Bernard Anbataayela Mornah, the flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has also taken legal steps to contest his disqualification.
Additionally, Kofi Asamoah-Siaw, the flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), has initiated legal proceedings against the EC, questioning the same disqualification.
