Former Minister Akwasi Oppong-Fosu invited to speak at U.S. Congressional Black Caucus Conference

Former Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Akwasi Oppong-Fosu, has been invited by U.S. Congressman Jonathan L. Jackson, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, to speak at the 54th Annual Legislative Conference (ALC) of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF).
The conference, scheduled for September 24–28, 2025, will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Centre in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Oppong-Fosu is expected to participate in the Africa Diaspora Forum on Friday, September 26, where he will join distinguished leaders, policymakers, and activists to deliberate on key issues affecting Africa and the global Black community.
In his remarks, he will prioritise discussions on U.S.–Ghana trade and investment opportunities, while also addressing U.S. foreign policy shifts in areas such as trade, USAID-PEPFAR, immigration, and visas.
He will further explore strategies for strengthening unity and collaboration between Africa, the Diaspora, and the United States.
According to him, the gathering underscores the importance of dialogue, shared responsibility, and collective action in advancing sustainable development and global solidarity
