GA/R: Ashaiman MP secures funds for major development projects

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ashaiman Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Ernest Norgbey, has announced that funding has been secured for the commencement of several major developmental projects across the constituency.
Speaking during a community engagement session, the MP revealed that the constituency had experienced significant developmental setbacks over the past eight years, attributing the situation to its status as a stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during a period when the party was in opposition.
He assured residents that the situation has now changed under the current administration of President John Dramani Mahama, promising a renewed era of progress for Ashaiman.
“Both parents are in the kitchen now,” Mr. Norgbey said, metaphorically referring to the NDC’s return to power, adding that the constituency can now expect accelerated development in key sectors.
The MP disclosed that several infrastructure projects — including road construction, school facilities, maternity blocks, and a 24-hour market complex — have all been approved and funded, with implementation expected to begin soon.
He further indicated that the projects are expected to be completed by the first quarter of next year, marking one of the most ambitious development phases in Ashaiman’s recent history.
On the issue of security, Mr. Norgbey clarified that most major crimes reported in areas around Ashaiman were not committed within the municipality itself.
He therefore urged the media to be accurate in their reporting and avoid tarnishing the image of the constituency.
“Ashaiman is safe. Our crime rate has reduced significantly, with only minor theft cases occasionally reported — just like in any other community,” he emphasised.
The MP reiterated his commitment to working closely with the local Assembly, security agencies, and community leaders to ensure sustained development, safety, and improved living standards for residents.
