German President reaffirms admiration for Dr. Kwame Nkrumah — Foreign Affairs Minister
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa, has announced that the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, has renewed his deep admiration and respect for Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President and a founding father of African unity.
According to Mr. Ablakwa, President Steinmeier’s remarks came during his official visit to Ghana, where he paid tribute to Dr. Nkrumah’s enduring legacy as a visionary leader who championed Africa’s independence, unity, and socio-economic transformation while visiting the Nkrumah Mausoleum.
The German President described Dr. Nkrumah as a towering global figure whose ideas on self-determination, industrialisation, and Pan-Africanism continue to inspire generations across the world.
Mr. Ablakwa noted that the renewed recognition by the German leader underscores Ghana’s continued relevance as a beacon of freedom, democracy, and leadership in Africa.
“President Steinmeier’s reverence for Dr. Nkrumah is a reminder of how the world continues to draw inspiration from Ghana’s historic contribution to global liberation and progressive ideals,” the Minister said.
He added that Ghana’s government remains committed to preserving and promoting the legacy of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as part of its broader efforts to strengthen cultural diplomacy and deepen relations with Germany and other international partners.
