How well does Kufour know Bawumia's achievemens – Angry Alan roars
The leader of the Movement for Change, Mr Alan Kyerematen, has publicly questioned former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s recent endorsement of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the best candidate to lead Ghana and address its economic challenges.
Speaking in an interview aired on Accra 100.5 FM’s morning news on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, Mr. Kyerematen expressed concern over Kufuor’s support for Dr. Bawumia, suggesting that it could tarnish the former President’s image as a respected statesman.
Mr. Kyerematen argued that former President Kufuor might not be familiar enough with Dr. Bawumia’s record to justify such an endorsement.
“How well does former President Kufuor know the achievements of Dr. Bawumia to make this claim?
What work has Dr. Bawumia done to warrant this endorsement?” he questioned, emphasizing his doubts over Dr. Bawumia's track record in addressing Ghana’s economic issues.
Over the weekend, Kufuor praised Dr. Bawumia during an interview with some selected journalists, describing him as the most capable person to tackle the country’s economic challenges.
However, Mr. Kyerematen voiced his disapproval, saying that, in his view, Kufuor’s endorsement appeared to align him closely with the current administration, potentially compromising his image as an impartial statesman.
“A statesman of Kufuor’s calibre should remain above partisan politics.
Why risk diminishing that standing?” Kyerematen questioned, further expressing disappointment over what he perceives as the former President’s departure from his role as a nonpartisan elder in Ghanaian politics.
