Greater Accra Regional Minister and Member of Parliament, Linda Ocloo, has issued a public rejoinder and clarification over a video circulating on social media which she says has been taken out of context and used to advance a misleading narrative.

In a statement dated February 8, 2026, Ocloo said, “My attention has been drawn to a short video currently circulating on social media, which has been deliberately taken out of context and amplified to advance a misleading and politically convenient narrative.”

She explained that the footage originated from an engagement during the Ablekuma North elections and was part of a full interview conducted during the election period.

“The footage forms part of a full interview conducted during the election period, which has been selectively clipped and edited to distort facts and mislead the public,” she stated.

Addressing her presence at the Ayawaso East election grounds, the Minister clarified that she was there solely in her official role.

“It is important to emphasise that my presence at the election grounds yesterday in Ayawaso East was strictly in my official capacity as Head of Regional Security, to observe proceedings, assess the situation on the ground, and ensure peace, law, and order. At no point was my visit intended to, nor did it, constitute campaigning or support for any candidate or political interest.”

She further noted that she had not visited the constituency since attending the burial and prayer service of the late Member of Parliament until election day, adding that she attended the grounds in black funeral attire.

Ocloo also denied allegations that she distributed items to any candidate.

“Furthermore, claims suggesting that I distributed ice chests or any items to the former constituency chairman, who was also a candidate, for sharing among delegates are entirely false and malicious.”

Condemning the circulation of the video, she said, “The deliberate misrepresentation of this footage and the spreading of false claims are calculated attempts to manufacture controversy where none exists. I strongly condemn the unethical manipulation and circulation of media content for political mischief or personal gain.”

She urged the public and the media to disregard the claims.

“I therefore urge the general public and media practitioners to disregard the misleading clips and false claims in circulation and to rely solely on accurate, complete, and credible information from verified sources.”

Reaffirming her position, Ocloo added, “As Greater Accra Regional Minister, I remain resolutely committed to transparency, responsible leadership, and truthful public communication. Any further attempts to spread falsehoods or deliberately mislead the public will be treated with the seriousness such conduct deserves.”
