Ghana’s Majority Leader in Parliament,  Mahama Ayariga, is leading a parliamentary delegation to the 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) taking place in Barbados.

The high-level conference, held under the theme “The Commonwealth: A Global Partner,” brings together lawmakers, speakers, and parliamentary leaders from across member states to deliberate on emerging global issues and strategies to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Speaking ahead of the event, Mr. Ayariga emphasised that the conference presents a vital opportunity for Ghana to engage with global partners, share experiences, and contribute to shaping policies that promote democracy, good governance, and sustainable development within the Commonwealth community.

“This is a crucial opportunity to represent our shared interests and bring valuable insights back home.

We’ll be working with counterparts from across the globe to discuss key issues and strengthen international ties,” he stated.

The conference is expected to address topics including climate change adaptation, trade partnerships, youth participation in governance, and digital transformation in parliamentary work.

Ghana’s participation underscores its continued commitment to active engagement in Commonwealth parliamentary affairs and to advancing collaboration on issues that impact both Africa and the wider global community.
