Majority Leader welcomes EU Ambassador and European Parliament delegation to Ghana’s Parliament
The Majority Leader, Mr Mahama Ayariga, together with other parliamentary leaders, has received the European Union (EU) Ambassador to Ghana and a delegation from the European Parliament on a courtesy visit to the Parliament of Ghana.
The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to deepen Ghana–EU relations and explore new areas of cooperation between the two institutions.
In a cordial exchange, discussions focused on strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, enhancing democratic governance, and promoting sustainable development partnerships.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing mutual priorities, including trade, climate resilience, youth empowerment, and peace and security in the sub-region.
Mr. Ayariga commended the EU for its longstanding support to Ghana’s democratic and development agenda, highlighting the need for continued collaboration in areas such as governance reforms, institutional capacity building, and investment promotion.
The EU delegation, on its part, expressed appreciation for Ghana’s leadership role in upholding democratic principles in West Africa and reaffirmed the bloc’s readiness to support the country’s social and economic transformation agenda.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen dialogue between the Parliament of Ghana and the European Parliament, with both sides pledging to work closely to promote transparency, accountability, and inclusive growth.
