The Minority Caucus in Parliament has sounded the alarm over the government's failure to disburse key statutory funds nearly six months into President John Mahama’s administration, labelling the delay as unlawful and harmful to local governance and critical public services.

At a press conference in Parliament on Thursday, Minority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri,  Frank Annoh-Dompreh, accused the government of violating the Local Governance Act and constitutional provisions by withholding funds, including:

District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF)

GETFund

National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF)

Other constitutionally mandated allocations

"This deliberate delay is not just an administrative failure but a clear breach of statutory obligations that undermines development at the grassroots level and jeopardises essential services," Mr. Annoh-Dompreh stated.

The Minority emphasized that the non-release of these funds has crippled local Assemblies, disrupted education and healthcare financing, and stalled infrastructure projects across the country.

"We demand immediate action from the government to rectify this unlawful withholding and restore the flow of resources to the intended beneficiaries," the Minority Chief Whip added.

The Caucus warned that further inaction would compel Parliament to explore all legal and legislative measures to hold the government accountable.
